FINE ARTS
Music as one of the arts of the quadrivium is an important aspect of school life at FLS. Elementary and middle school students participate in a spring musical every year. There are opportunities to participate in band, orchestra, choirs, and handbells. A Christmas instrumental concert, Christmas and spring choral concerts, talent shows, and other musical performances are put on throughout the year. Classes in music theory, music appreciation, and musical composition are offered as well as instrumental instruction.
Students participate in theatrical productions at FLS, including our annual Shakespeare dinner theatre, spring musical, and high school productions. High school students recently put on plays such as Canterbury Tales, a Seussified Christmas Carol, and Dracula.
Each year, there is a fine arts display and spring music concert at which FLS scholars exhibit thier works in various media including paint, oil pastels, pencil, and more.
