Mother’s name: Brenda Cumming

Where do you plan to attend college and major in, and what are your career plans? I will attend Concordia University, Nebraska, and I will major in computer science while being involved in the pre-seminary program. I plan to become a pastor, but if that does not work out then I will have computer science to fall back on.

What school activities have you been involved in? I have been involved in all of the sports offered to me by FLHS (including indoor and outdoor soccer, basketball, indoor and outdoor flag football, and cross country). For 5 years, I have been in the high school choir, under the leadership of two different directors. I have also been on two choir tours which are most likely my favorite memories of my high school years at FLHS.

What teacher impacted you the most and how? Pastor Steve Kieser taught me Algebra 2, Greek 1, and Greek 2. Algebra 2 was the best class of the day, what more can I say? Greek 1 and 2 were my favorite classes offered at FLHS. Not only did I find the value of reading the Bible in its original language, but the on topic and off topic tangents always brightened my day. This was especially helpful in Greek 2, when I would have to leave for a three hour Collin class right afterwards.

What is the most interesting school project/assignment you have done? My most interesting school project is translating the Gospel reading for each Sunday. Every Monday in Greek 2, we would translate the Gospel reading from the original language into English and get a more in depth understanding of the Gospel reading.

What advice do you have for future high school graduates? Be often thinking about your future after your graduation. Gather information on various majors and colleges early such as sophomore and junior year. Do all of this while still being on top of your studies here at FLHS. Then with your remaining time, squeeze a social life somewhere in there.
