FLS celebrates start of 50th year

This school year, Faith Lutheran School celebrates the start of its 50th school year. Preschool for 4-year-olds began on August 30, 1971. Mrs. King was the director and Mrs. Martin was the teacher. They had 11 students.

Faith Lutheran School began offering Kindergarten class in September of 1978. Mrs. Slattery was the teacher. She had 5 students. Then 1st grade was added in August 1981. Mrs. Jan Kueck was the teacher. She had 10
students. Then 2nd through 5th grade were added in August of 1982. Faith Lutheran School kept adding a grade every year. Then 8th
grade was added in August of 1985. In August 2008, the High School started with 7 students in the 9th grade.

God has richly blessed Faith Lutheran School for 50 years. Many students have completed the eighth grade here or have graduated from our high school. Many faithful and dedicated teachers have taught and still teach at our school.

Fathers and mothers are to bring up their children in the training and instruction of the Lord (Eph 6:1-4). May God’s Word dwell richly in our children (Col 3:15-17). Faith Lutheran School assists parents in teaching the
faith to children. The students learn Scripture, the Small Catechism and hymns. Our school opens and closes each day with prayer. Chapel is held every Wednesday. The students grow in the knowledge of God’s Word and in the truth of the Gospel so that they may be faithful servants within God’s kingdom and for the sake of one another.

Theology is the most important content of education because it helps the student to view history and literature through the lens of God’s Word. But Faith Lutheran School also offers a Classical education. Whether the
subject is History, Geography, Science, or Mathematics, the students are taught facts, dates, and events. Classical education doesn’t entertain the students, but it helps them to develop their minds—giving them the tools for learning. It educates the child toward truth, goodness, and beauty found fully in the person and work of Jesus Christ.

We are thankful for the many blessings which God has bestowed upon Faith Lutheran School for 50 years. May God continue to bless Faith Lutheran School all to His glory and for the benefit of the students.
