FLHS Class of 2020: Camden Norris

Camden Norris
Faith Lutheran High School
Honors Graduate

Where do you plan to attend college and major in, and what are your
career plans? Ivy Tech, no planned major at the moment. I am currently a manager at Arby’s Maysville in Fort Wayne, Indiana, hoping to further my career in the restaurant business.

What school activities have you been involved in?   Many socials, design and decorating the high school dance for last year 2018-19, Violinist for High School Orchestra and the Heart Song Music Festival from 2015-19

What teacher impacted you the most and how? My Favorite teacher was definitely Erika Mildred (Math). I’ve always struggled with math and just felt like it was never quite explained in a way that was simple to understand. Last year Mrs. Mildred made sure to understand the problems I was having with math, and take time to explain every little detail until I finally understood. Before Mrs. Mildreds’ class math was always my least favorite subject, but now after being in her class, math has become much easier and sometimes I even look forward to doing itf

What is the most interesting school project/assignment you have done?
The most interesting school project I have ever done would be an art project in which we all had to draw a single tree. Art has always been very fun and fulfilling to me because it opens your eyes to how detailed the world really is. In the assignment, we only had to draw one tree, but the longer you looked at trees to get an idea of what to draw, the more detailed and beautiful they became. This was definitely my favorite school project because it helped us all see just how complicated and elaborate God has made the world.

What advice do you have for future high school graduates? My advice for future graduates is just to make sure you ask questions when you need help. It can be frustrating when you just can’t grasp a lesson. Instead of struggling for the entire year, just ask for help. Even if it is a concept you think you understand but still aren’t 100% sure, ask and make sure you understand it. Also don’t be afraid to ask others for help even if they aren’t the teacher. Sometimes your friends know how you think better than the teacher does, and they might be able to explain a concept to you in a way that makes a lot more sense.
