On Monday, Faith Lutheran School Learn From Home (LFH) will begin. It’s new. It’s never been done before. It’s adventurous. Sounds like the beginning of a great story? Come May 2020, you and I will have a great story to tell.
Maybe your experience with LFH won’t look like Spangenberg’s portrayal of Luther and his family? Then again, maybe there will be similarities. Take a close look at the painting. I wonder what each of the children are thinking? Can you tell their personalities? Where is Luther looking… maybe just being contemplative? Katy, Luther’s wife, is busy being a mom. A family friend, Phillip Melanchthon, helps himself to a refreshment. The children are busy trying to learn the music. A ball of yarn has started to come undone. Luther’s house was a busy house. Yours is busy too.
Some have said they are using these e-mails as family devotions. If you want to do that, have everyone look at the painting and figure out what is going on. What is your family life like? Have you been spending more or less time together this week? Luther’s family is singing a hymn together, what does your family like to do? Do you like to sing hymns?
Consider these passages of Scripture and answers the questions that follow:
Ephesians 5:31-6:4. What does God say about the family?
Proverbs 4:1-9. What is it that a Godly family craves more than wealth?
Romans 8:12-17. How has God been a Father to you?
