It’s hard to believe but this year is the tenth anniversary of Faith Lutheran High School. It is fitting that we pause to give thanks to God for the many blessings and great memories experienced by our students during these years….
-Our first class started in August of 2008 with 7 students.
-Mr. Merritt was our first full-time high school teacher and administrator (2008 – present).
-We were also blessed to have Frank Bruno teach math part time and Ken and Helen Germann teach Latin part time. This enabled us to start the high school with strong academics, while keeping costs in check.
-Our first field trip was to the Dallas Museum of Art to view the King Tut exhibit. It was the first of many trips on the DART train. We also visited the nursing home for the first time and we began our yearly tradition of going to Six Flags at the end of each year.
-First Outdoor Education trip, including an opportunity to shoot a shotgun
-Started Speech and Debate and even competed in several UIL tournaments
-Sophomores took the PSAT for the first time
-Large class of 10 freshmen pushed total enrollment to 18
-Pastor Preus was called as Pastor for Wylie and half time high school teacher. His energy was a huge boast to the school and he started the Faith Lutheran High School Choir.
-Two juniors, Bethany Woelmer and Ashley Trocinski, convinced Mr. Gil Abbott to let them start High School Strings.
-Bethany Woelmer was named to the Texas Private School Music Educators Association (TPSMEA) All State Band and the sophomores and juniors piled in Mr. Merritt’s van and drove to San Marcos to support her at the concert.
-Student placed in the top three in four events at the Winston Science Competition.
-First year PSAT was offered at Faith
-First year for Basketball and Volleyball teams
-First high school play “The Apple” was performed
-First year foreign languages were offered online
-First graduating class: Spencer Anthony, Stephanie Swain, and Bethany Woelmer
-Debbie Spencer was hired to teach Biology and Chemistry to freshmen and sophomores.
-Juniors and seniors took the first Dual Credit classes at Collin College.
-Mr. Bruno took seven high school students to a UIL Tournament to compete in Mathematics. All 7 placed and Rebecca Johnson won the freshman level.
-First high school yearbook

-First High School Talent Show
-First mural painted by the seniors in the hallway
-First junior/senior trip—Went to Disney World in Florida
-First high school Formal was held—Masquerade Ball at Sais Lagos Club House
-First year we offered line online classes
-Mr. Bruno retired and Mr. Shubert took over teaching math
-7-12 Drama does “Dracula” and “The Idi-Odyssey”
-Second graduating class with five students
-First European trip taken by juniors and seniors—17 day trip to London, Paris, Switzerland, Florence, Assisi, Rome, Pompeii, Greece, Athens
-“Gardens of Versailles” Formal held at Event 1013 in downtown Plano
-Second mural painted in the hall by the seniors
-Third graduating class with two seniors
-Mr. Merritt stepped down as Headmaster in order to teach high school full time.
-Pastor Kieser was called as Associate Pastor and Headmaster.
-Debi Tauschek was hired to replace Jon Telschow in middle school and to teach Latin 1 and Geometry in high school
-Quentin Blackerby was hired to teach science in 6-10
-Pastor Taylor taught Latin 2, 3, and 4
-Trip to State Fair via DART
-50’s themed dance in the gym
-First Latin Day celebrated at Messiah Keller
-Fourth graduating class with 3 seniors
-Second European trip with juniors and seniors—13 Day trip to Paris, the French Riviera, Venice, Florence, Assisi, Rome, Bologna, Lake Como, and the Swish Alps
-Brennick Christiansen joined the staff bringing a much need burst of enthusiasm and energy
-Fifth graduating class with three seniors
-Phaedra Shaltanis hired to teach art to the delight of the students
-First high school choir tour to various cities in Texas
-We are graduating our sixth class this year will two seniors
-Third European Tour: 17 day trip to London, Paris, Switzerland, Florence, Assisi, Rome,
Pompeii, Greece, Athens
-Second choir tour to the St. Louis area
Yes, we have truly been blessed at Faith Lutheran High School! This year, we have a record 11 full-time freshmen and 1 part time student. This is also be a record for total number of students with 20 full time, 3 part time, and 4-5 online expected. Praise God for all His gifts to us and thank you Faith Lutheran Church for this excellent school!
