Education: BA from Concordia University, River Forest, IL; MA from University of Texas at Arlington; CCLE Classical Teacher Certification

Describe your responsibilities at Faith Lutheran School: For the middle school, I teach 7th grade math, 8th grade history, and 6th – 8th grade art. For the high school, I teach Geometry, Algebra II, Mathematical Models with Applications, Journalism & Yearbook, and high school art. I will also serve as a debate coach for the high school debate class.

What do you like best about your job at Faith Lutheran School? I love the faculty and staff here at FLS. I also love my students! I enjoy the discussion and debates that ensue as we encounter the good, the true, and the beautiful that classical education offers. I also love the vocation of teacher. I am humbled and blessed to make a positive difference in the lives of my students.

What do you think makes Faith Lutheran School a unique and special experience for students and parents? Classical Lutheran education is a wonderful gift for any student. The teachers and staff at FLS are deeply committed to this form of education and to the parents and students whom they serve. In addition, you can tell that we are a family at Faith. I am delighted to have my children attend here and to partner with parents for their children’s education.

What kind of hobbies or special activities do you enjoy outside of work? I love to sing, play piano, play basketball, volleyball, & softball, go for walks, read, go out to eat, play board games and cards with my children and husband, and spend time with friends.

What was your favorite childhood book? When I was a child, I loved The Story of Ferdinand by Munro Leaf and the Ramona series; when I was in high school, my favorites were Frankenstein, Brave New World, and anything written by Shakespeare or Jane Austen. As a mom, I loved reading the “Click, Clack, Moo” series, Paddington, and the Classic Starts series to my kids when they were younger.

Is there anything else you would like to add to you bio? In addition to all things math, I am a “grammar girl” at heart!
