Describe your responsibilities at Faith Lutheran School: third grade (all subjects except Latin)
What do you like best about your job at Faith Lutheran School? I know it’s horribly cliché, but I love everything about my job at Faith Lutheran School. I love my students and their innocence and joy. I love all of their families, and I love that I really get to know each family. I love the staff and their unwavering dedication to educating the next generation in the Lutheran faith. I love the pastors’ commitment to teaching the Word and administering the Sacraments in their truth and purity. I love the congregation’s commitment to raising up faithful pastors, teachers, musicians, and laypeople. God has richly blessed Faith Lutheran Church and School, and I am thankful to be able to be a part of it.
What do you think makes Faith Lutheran School a unique and special experience for students and parents? As a teacher, I have worked in a wide variety of settings: public and private, elementary and secondary, large and small. With this experience, I knew exactly what kind of education I wanted for my own children. My husband and I came to Faith Lutheran School as parents with young students, because we believe that Faith Lutheran School is one of the very best schools in the nation for equipping students for their vocations in the world and for the life of the world to come. Faith Lutheran School provides a unique experience for students and parents because students here are not only challenged academically, but the Gospel is proclaimed daily and with great joy. Faith gives kids an outstanding liberal arts education and Lutheran catechesis in a loving, nurturing environment. I couldn’t imagine sending my own children anywhere else.
What kind of hobbies and special activities do you enjoy outside of work? I love gardening, hiking, and all things outdoors. I’ve had many unique hobbies over the years (such as raising exotic birds, earning a black belt in karate, and traveling the world), but now I really just like to hang out with my husband, kids, and dog and drink coffee.
What was your favorite childhood book? I loved the Chronicles of Narnia. My dad used to read them to us by flashlight in the dark. He would change the names of the children to our names.
Is there anything you would like to add to your bio? I like dinosaurs. And coffee.
