Students from Faith Lutheran School recently conducted a Walk-A-Thon to raise money for Orphan Grain Train.  Students raised more than $1,500.00 for the non-profit by walking a total of 4,955 laps at on the Faith Lutheran School campus, which is located in Plano, Texas.

“Students from Kindergarten through high school participated in the two-hour walk along with teachers, administrators and faculty members,” said Faith Lutheran School Headmaster Rev. Stephen W. Kieser of Plano.  “It was a great success, and everyone participating had a wonderful time getting exercise while raising money for Orphan Grain Train.”

Prizes were awarded to students from each grade that walked the most laps.  Prizes were also awarded to students from each grade that collected the most pledges. Faith Lutheran School third grader Olivia Ottmers of McKinney walked 105 laps at the event – the most laps among all participants. Faith Lutheran School third grader Elizabeth Crawford of Plano raised almost $200 at the event, more than any other participant.

In 2013, Faith Lutheran School conducted a Walk-A-Thon to raise funds The Samaritan Inn of McKinney, a non-profit that serves many homeless in the area. Through that event, students raised almost $5,500 by walking a total of 991 laps at Bob Woodruff Park in Plano.
